Anybody notice it’s been a LONG time since I made a post about working out? That’s cuz I slacked off in a huge way after doing the 1st month of my 2nd go ’round of Insanity. I have no good reasons really, just a bunch of lame excuses … busy getting house ready to sell, packing, working on da Beastmobile, and then the respiratory infection, the latter perhaps not such a lame excuse. However, 3 or 4 weeks (I lost count) of not working out started taking it’s toll on me, mentally more than physically, although I do feel a little jiggle when I giggle, hehe. Oddly, I’ve lost a few pounds, but the fitness guru in me knows that it’s only cuz some of my muscle turned into fat, hence the slight belly jiggle.
Monday is a great day for new beginnings. I didn’t want to go gangbusters and hurt myself so I chose this video:
Sometimes I put notes on my videos … this one says ,”Good for easy day.” Ha, yea, well not such an easy day when it’s been a month since I picked up a weight. That said, I used lighter weights accordingly. On shoulders, I started out with 10 lbs per hand, then decreased to 8, then to 5! No shame in that … at least I got ‘er done without any serious injury. I’ll be sore tomorrow, but a good kind of sore.
So, the best thing about trying to adopt a good habit OR trying to break a bad habit is that you never actually fail unless you give up totally. As long as you jump back up onto the bandwagon one more time then you fall off, you have not failed. I leave you with the famous words of Sir Winston Churchill, “Never, never, never give up.”
